la mar

We crossed our paths on that hungry road
Both lost with nowhere to go
With me and my disillusions of potential
My craving for destruction
How I wanted more than anything to fight battles I knew could not be won
And you had the music in you
We all saw that, we all knew
What, with that six-string and child-like charm
The girls couldn´t stop coming

All those endless nights I wish I understood you more
And why you loved the tragedy in me
The crooked smile you always gave
When you knew I was fucking up again
And you knew that I knew it too
How I liked to walk myself into these corners
But you never gave up on the dream

And I met you on that hungry road
Many a times
Where are you now?
When I would give anything to lie stoned beside you
in that hammock in your Californian home
All starry-eyed wondering about the bridges we never crossed

Kerouac brought us to where we are
Two people with nothing in common
But yet the same sensibilities
And now on this Spanish road
which reminds me a lot of California
I dream that I´m coming home to you
Home to la mar
Where we have always belonged
